Author Guidelines
Thank you for your interest in contributing to the Handbook of Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) in African Languages. This platform will be used to receive full book chapters, facilitate the review process, and communicate feedback to authors. The editorial team and reviewers will assess submissions based on the book’s aims and scope.
Submission Process
Authors whose proposals have been reviewed and accepted are invited to submit their full book chapters. Each submission will be evaluated to ensure it aligns with the Handbook’s objectives. Chapters meeting these requirements will undergo a structured review process before a final decision is made.
Editorial and Review Process
Once submitted, chapters will be reviewed as follows:
- Editorial Assessment: The editors will conduct an initial review to determine if the chapter meets the required quality and scope.
- Peer Review: If the submission is a good fit, it may be sent to other scholars in the field for additional peer evaluation and feedback.
- Decision & Feedback: Based on the reviewers’ comments, authors will receive one of the following decisions:
- Accepted with minor or no revisions
- Revisions required before acceptance
- Rejected (with feedback explaining why the chapter is not suitable for the Handbook)
Author Responsibilities
Before submitting, authors must ensure the following:
- They have full rights and permissions to publish any included materials, such as images, datasets, or other supporting documents.
- All listed co-authors consent to be identified as contributors to the chapter.
- If applicable, the research complies with ethics guidelines relevant to the author’s institution or country.
Submissions may be desk rejected if they do not meet minimum quality standards. Chapters should have a clear structure, a strong research argument, and well-articulated findings. Titles should be concise, and the abstract should effectively summarize the chapter’s content to improve the likelihood of approval.
Submission Preparation Checklist
To ensure smooth processing, authors should confirm that:
✔ Their submission meets the Handbook’s scope and guidelines.
✔ The chapter is original and unpublished (not under consideration elsewhere).
✔ All references are accurate and complete.
✔ Any tables and figures are labeled and numbered correctly.
✔ They have obtained permissions for any photos, datasets, or external materials included in their submission.
